DNF: Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

DNF: Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

I am a sucker for books where the girl gets the prince. I’ve also read Angie Stanton’s Jamieson Collection series and I enjoyed those books. When I saw this book on edelweiss and saw who the author was, I of course, had to request it. I started reading it and instantly disliked the female MC, Becca. The Male MC, Nikolai’s introduction to me wasn’t so hot either..but.. I powered through…. When I got to 14% I couldn’t take it anymore!! Nikolai is a prince who is anti-monarchy and Becca is being anti everything on her family’s European vacation. If she throws a fit about him being a prince when she finds out I’m going to throw my iPad. Ungrateful girl is on a trip to Europe whining about the history of the places she’s visiting…how she doesn’t want to go to this palace or church or even be on the tour at all… I would about kill to go to Europe and explore all of their historical buildings and learn more about their history.. And I’d swoon and have a heart attack if I met a good looking prince! All she does is whine..all they both do is pretty much whine. To be Honest, I don’t even know if I’ll ever finish this book and find out if she throws a fit when she finds out he’s a prince.. maybe one day when I’m bored I will get curious as to how it all ends..but for now..I just can’t take […]

Release Day Launch / ARC Review: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

Erin’s Review First off, This review needs a song… [sc_embed_player fileurl=”http://mereadalot.net/muzak/06%20Paradise%20City.mp3″] <- Click  the play button for this review’s theme song. (Paradise City by Guns N Roses)   Second…one of the best characters in this book: BAMBI. That’s all I’m gonna say..I’ll let you meet Bambi on your own. 😉 Jennifer L. Armentrout never fails when bringing us a swoony boy..and this book is no exception..In fact, she gave us TWO SWOONY BOYS! We’ve got Zayne ,who is a warden (aka Gargoyle) and Roth, who is a demon. Our female MC in this book is Layla. Layla is half-warden, half-demon. She was raised by the Wardens and because of that she feels insecure around them. She may be half-warden, but she doesn’t have the capabilities they possess, so she feels…inconsequential? around them.. Yeah, something like that. She does have the ability to “tag” demons, which she uses to help the Wardens, who hunt at night, identify them. Which in turn makes their job a bit easier..and makes Layla feel as though she’s doing something positive. Due to her being half-demon, she has the ability to suck the soul right out of someone..literally. Because of that whole soul-sucking thing, she’ll never be able to have the one boy she wants..Zayne, or anyone else for that matter.. That all changes when she meets Roth. Roth is a demon, he has no soul, so his lips are free game to Layla..and boy does she take advantage of that..Or maybe it’s Roth that takes advantage of […]

Review: Liar, Liar Hearts on Fire by Jennifer Zane

Review: Liar, Liar Hearts on Fire by Jennifer Zane

When I started reading this book and saw that the mc, Violet, lives in Bozeman, Montana, I instantly thought of the episode of The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon relocates to Bozeman after having their apartment broken in to. I wondered if maybe the author saw this episode and decided to use it as her backdrop for her gnome series?     This book has all kinds of things going on in it. From naked neighbors trying to climb in to any where (or on him?) Mike might be, to a mother doing every thing she can to get her son married and some grandbabies out of him. Violet Miller is a school teacher, who secretly (or maybe no-so-secretly) wants to write word porn (aka erotic romance novels) for a living. She’s afraid of what people will think if she does that, so instead of writing, she took on teaching.  It’s summer time and her sister is off with her boyfriend so Violet is working her sister’s job at the local sex toy shop. Ha! One day she answers the phone at the shop and on the other end is the boy that got away after High School, Mike Ostranski. You see, Mike is up in Alaska at a family reunion, and his mother is crazy desperate for her only child to hurry up and get married and give her some grandbabies. She’s so desperate she’s trying to hook up Mike to his uncle’s crazy, and boy do I mean […]

ARC Review: Echoes in the Glass by Cheri Lasota + Giveaway!

ARC Review: Echoes in the Glass by Cheri Lasota + Giveaway!

The cover art of this book is what drew my attention. When I saw it I knew I had to read it.  The lighthouse called out to me. I’ve never read a book based around a lighthouse, so I had to give this book a shot. What’s really great about this story is that there is TWO stories being told. It’s half historical, half contemporary with a bit of mystery.  I couldn’t put my iPad down once I started reading this. The details that the author gave to us really helped me visualize the Lighthouse, as it was in both time periods. I had no problem envisioning how it might have looked when we were visiting it in 1935 or if we were visiting it in the present. Cheri also did an amazing job with the character development, I fell in love with both couples, though for the most part I think I enjoyed Carina and Morgan’s story more. We get thrown some unexpected twists in both stories and at one point I could almost feel my heart breaking. It’s a very bittersweet story that gave me one hell of a book hangover and left my heart a wee bit sore.   Thank you for giving me the chance to read and review this book, Cheri & ATOMR. I really enjoyed it! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Mini Book Review – Jagged by Kristen Ashley

Mini Book Review – Jagged by Kristen Ashley

I am a HUGE fan of Kristen Ashley and when I saw this up for grabs on Netgalley I was all over it. I read this book almost 2 months ago and I don’t even remember what happened in this book. Most Kristen Ashley books have a way of grabbing hold of my brain and staying there, this one did not. I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. Unlike other Kristen Ashley books, this one had nothing going on that kept me on the edge of my seat biting the inside of my mouth.. I’m so very disappointed by this book, but I guess it was bound to happen eventually, right? The rest of this series is amazing so far, but Jagged just doesn’t live up to the first four books in the Colorado Mountain series. I really hope that she brings it with Kaleidoscope, the next book in the series! If you’re a big Kristen Ashley fan like me, I would still recommend that you read it. It might be a watered down version of a Kristen Ashley book, but it’s still a KA book and it will hold you over until her next book comes out. Which, if you stalk her like Melanie and I do, you’ve already read the sneak peek of on her website.

Book Review: For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron + Giveaway

Book Review: For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron + Giveaway

Because one of the first things you learn in this book is how awesome the movie Mean Girls is (though you people should already know the awesomeness of this movie!), this book review is going to consist of a lot of Mean Girls memes. HA.   Shannon is a 21 year old college junior who is still holding on to her V Card. Her friends are doing everything they can to help her lose that card. They even go as far as to be total assholes about it. Shannon’s holding on to her V Card because the only thing she’s worried about right now is getting through college and making something better of her life (or maybe it’s because she recently watched Breaking Dawn..) Welp, that would certainly ruin a determined college student’s plans…   Anyways, back to my review…Shannon is a virgin, she plans on staying a virgin and she wants to get her friends off her back…Enter Jett, a cute tattooed graphic design student she “met” at the coffee shop. He just happens to cross paths with her again after some insane stuff goes down between Shannon and her friends and he rescues her from said situation. After a few discussions about nachos…  The two of them come to an agreement to fake date so that they can both get their friends off their backs… after a few days, it doesn’t seem so fake.. Speaking of Nachos, there was mention of dessert nachos in this book. I instantly […]

Book Review: Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

Book Review: Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

To be honest, when this book series was first announced I was like, ‘Gargoyles?!! Why would anyone write about gargoyles?’ Then I remembered that this is Jennifer L. Armentrout that is writing these books! I shouldn’t question her for writing about gargoyles, I should just trust the knowledge that we all know: Jennifer L. Armentrout writes the most swoon-worthy male characters EVER. After that realization I started to get excited! One day Jasmine’s father has announced his wishes for Jasmine and Dez to Mate, the next Dez has up and left without a word to Jasmine. It’s kind of hard to not take that personally. Especially seeing as Jas had spent the last 8 years of her life in love with him. So for 3 years, Jasmine mourns the loss of Dez and then one day He comes back and lays claim to Jasmine. Oh, but Jasmine is NOT HAPPY. She’s just spent the last 3 years of her life wondering what she did to make him leave and now he’s back all of the sudden and wants to mate? Oh no, Jasmine is not having any of that. Jasmine has seven days to say yes or no to Dez’s claim. Instead of saying ‘NO’ right off the bat, she comes up with conditions and she makes him work for that ‘Yes.’ We get a brief introduction to Layla (half demon & half gargoyle teen girl being raised by the DC Warden Clan.), Zayne (A Warden from the Clan that’s […]

Book Review: My Date From Hell by Tellulah Darling + Giveaway

Book Review: My Date From Hell by Tellulah Darling + Giveaway

Erin’s Review: My Date from Hell picks right up where My Ex from Hell ended. Sophie being held captive by her dad, Zeus.  He’s doing anything he can to get information from Sophie that she doesn’t have, well, information that she can’t remember. You see, she’s the reincarnation of Persephone and she can’t tap into her memories from her former life. Which is too bad, because the future of humanity depends on that information. The entire gang is back, Sophie, Theo, Hannah, even Bethany(meh). Oh let’s not forget Kai (swoooooon!).  We also get some new characters as well, Pierce (Eros, aka Cupid), Festos (aka Hephaestus), Aphrodite and Hermes. Sophie is just as awesome as she was in the first book. She talks before she thinks and sometimes it gets her into trouble, because a lot of what she has to say is full of snark.  In this book she gets a little jealous of herself, and by herself, I mean her former self: Persephone. She’s afraid that she  won’t be able to live up to her former self and that Kai will find Sophie lacking compared to what he had with Persephone. Kai…I wasn’t so sure about Kai in the first book, but Kai proves himself in this book and I absolutely fell in love with him. I know I’m not the only one who fell either. 😉 The chemistry between Sophie and Kai is even more amped up in this book (it’s that damn arrow! or so Sophie thinks….) […]
