Two people. One fake relationship. What could go wrong?

When virgin Shannon Travers gets fed up with her friends demanding that she find a boyfriend, she enlists the help of tattooed, mohawk-rocking graphic design student Jett. He' s more than happy to play along with their Fake Relationship, including the Ten Rules of Fake Dating that control-freak Shannon comes up with. Even if he likes to violate them. Repeatedly.

But what happens when Fake Dating starts to feel… not fake anymore? Will Shannon be willing to let go and embrace the first thing in her life that' s ever felt REAL?

Because one of the first things you learn in this book is how awesome the movie Mean Girls is (though you people should already know the awesomeness of this movie!), this book review is going to consist of a lot of Mean Girls memes. HA.

Shannon is a 21 year old college junior who is still holding on to her V Card. Her friends are doing everything they can to help her lose that card. They even go as far as to be total assholes about it. Shannon’s holding on to her V Card because the only thing she’s worried about right now is getting through college and making something better of her life (or maybe it’s because she recently watched Breaking Dawn..)

breaking dawnWelp, that would certainly ruin a determined college student’s plans…

Anyways, back to my review…Shannon is a virgin, she plans on staying a virgin and she wants to get her friends off her back…Enter Jett, a cute tattooed graphic design student she “met” at the coffee shop. He just happens to cross paths with her again after some insane stuff goes down between Shannon and her friends and he rescues her from said situation.

After a few discussions about nachos…  The two of them come to an agreement to fake date so that they can both get their friends off their backs… after a few days, it doesn’t seem so fake..

Speaking of Nachos, there was mention of dessert nachos in this book. I instantly thought of something like this:

nachos

Dessert Nachos (without the fancy creme fraiche and berry salsa that the recipe calls for). Really I just imagined Elephant Ear flavored tortilla chips ( fried flour tortillas with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top) with Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Syrup on top of them. OMG that sounds amazing, I might have to try this soon. 😉

I really liked this book, though it was shorter than I thought it was going to be. Shannon and Jett were amazing characters and I instantly fell in love with them. Shannon’s friends, however, I thought were total bitches. It’s apparent that none of her girlfriends have ever read an issue of Cosmo (or at least the section about Real Life). If they had, they wouldn’t have pulled the shit they did to her.

If it had been me who had friends who done that, I would’ve pitched a bitchfit.. and been all:

Unfortunately, she doesn’t do that..and a couple of weeks later her friends  realize what douche canoes they are and Shannon finally gives it to them. After that, all is right in her world with her friends…and they all think that being  a virgin is….

fetch

(I just wanted a reason to use the term “so fetch” in this review… hahah)

thang

Seriously, I really did enjoy this book. It was a cute read, though somewhat shorter than I thought it was going to be. Boo! I wanted some more of Shannon and Jett! I loved how they kept calling each other “Fake Boyfriend/Girlfriend” during their “Fake Relationship”. I also loved that they continued that when they finally became an actual couple and started calling each other “Real Boyfriend/Girlfriend”. That was downright adorable.

The only good supporting character in this book was Jett’s best friend/roomie Javi. He’s a dude, so he’s allowed to be a douche bag, but he was an entertaining douchebag.  Her friends..that was just ugh, I did not like the way they treated her.. I am glad though that they finally pulled their heads out of their asses.

As for Shannon’s virginity, when she and Jett finally get around to taking care of business Chelsea did not sugar coat it. In every book I’ve ever read, it seems that any girl who loses her virginity has about 5 seconds of discomfort and then 15 seconds later she comes 6 times. THAT IS NOT REAL LIFE, THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN! We all know that! Chelsea was “For Real” (Pun Intended, ha!) and wrote a very realistic losing the virginity sex scene that even takes place in the back of a car!

This was the first book in the Rules of Love book series by Chelsea M. Cameron. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. Are we going to meet River? Is this story going to be about Javier? What’s going to happen?! I will most definitely be reading it!

Oh yeah….
