Black Lies by Alessandra Torre

Black Lies by Alessandra Torre

I was looking at this book on amazon, considering reading it..but seeing the names of TWO men, I decided to pass for now. I am not the biggest fans of Love Triangles as of lately (a certain Molly McAdams book killed love triangles for me and for Melanie a couple of years ago) so I try to avoid them now. A couple of days later Melanie is texting me telling me that I NEED TO READ BLACK LIES so that she can have some one to talk to. I yell at her about love triangles and she’s like “NO, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS. DO IT NOW.” I grumbled a bit and was like if it’s loanable on amazon I’ll read it…. 5 minutes later she loans it to me via Amazon. I totally put off starting this book until later in the evening… I started this book in the 8:00pm hour on Thursday 8/28 and I was finished with it before midnight that very night. I could NOT put this book down. I’ve read a few of Alessandra Torre’s books and they’ve all been very unique in their own rights. THIS BOOK  IS NO DIFFERENT. This book’s timeline is all over the place telling you the story of Lana’s love for two men. First up, there’s Brant: A Gorgeous, Intelligent, Successful computer nerd who is a bit scatterbrained. Then there’s Lee: The boy from the other side of the tracks, doesn’t compare to Brant’s genius, does landscaping for a living […]

Extremely Famous Release Celebration Giveaway!

Extremely Famous Release Celebration Giveaway!

A few months ago I received a review request from an author by the name of Heather Leigh for a book called Relatively Famous (read review). I read the synopsis and jumped on the chance to read this book. She then sent it to me and I DEVOURED THIS BOOK. I couldn’t put it down.  I have since devoured the sequels to this book and have enjoyed the rest of the series immensely. Heather Leigh does a good job of keeping us entertained with this series.  The characters in this series are well written, well developed and easy to fall in love with. She doesn’t make Sydney and Drew’s relationship easy, they have a lot of hoops to jump through and issues to deal with before the find their Happily Ever After. While it seems that Sydney and Drew’s story comes to a close in Extremely Famous, The Famous series is far from done! I do believe Heather Leigh will be giving us the stories of some of the other characters that we’ve grown to love in this series as well. I can’t wait to see what she will bring to the table with these other characters! The Famous Series Relatively Famous (Famous #1) by Heather Leigh Amazon | B&N | iTunes This is NOT your average Hollywood romance. There are no virgins falling in love with hot actors. There isn’t a famous guy falling for the normal girl next door. What there IS in this book, is a fragile, damaged girl […]

One Night: Promised by Jodi Ellen Malpas

One Night: Promised by Jodi Ellen Malpas

I’m currently on vacation visiting a friend who lives in NYC… I started reading One Night Promised when we were in the for the night last night. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I was up until 5am reading and then I finally forced myself to go to bed. The second I was up today I dove right back in to the book instead of going out into the city of NY to wander. That’s saying something. 😉 Olivia, otherwise known as Livy, is a 24 year old woman who just started working a bistro, she cannot master the cappuccino machine to save her life.  She could be annoying at times, but when learning more about her and her secrets you start to understand where she’s coming from. I really loved Livy’s Grandmother, whom she lives with, she was cute and entertaining. Her Nan did all she could to try and get her granddaughter to break out her carefully crafted shell and live her life. It takes making a bad cup of coffee for a dark haired, blue eyed stranger to  cause Livy’s shell to crack. I LOVE MILLER. He’s a quirky hot guy. He may seem like perfection, but really he has his flaws and his secrets too. Boy, I did NOT expect his secret to be what it was.. JEM really surprised me with his dirty secret. After learning more about Livy’s past, I think Livy’s reaction when learning about Miller’s profession was a little hypocritical, though now that I’m thinking about […]

Book Review: Breathe With Me by Kristen Proby

Book Review: Breathe With Me by Kristen Proby

You guys… this book didn’t piss me off like Tied With Me did. THANK GOD. I actually enjoyed this book a lot better than Tied With Me, but if you’ve read my rant with Tied With Me, you’ll know that it hit a sore spot for me… so.. yeah. Breathe With Me is a second chance romance. Mark and Meredith were High School Sweethearts with plans of moving to New York City. That is, until Meredith decided to pursue her dreams on her own and breaking Mark’s heart. When I read that scene I shook my fist and started calling her names. Why does one leave the person they’re so much in love with? I cried for her and for Mark when she did that. I understand now why Mark turned into playboy. It’s hard to fall in love with someone when another already possesses your heart. I’m so glad that fate brought them back together again. When M & M meet again, it’s under sad circumstances, but it was like no time had passed at all between them. While I liked this book a lot more than the last one, My mother (who actually discovered this series when the first one came out and suggested that I read it.) and I both agree that it’s not as good as the first so many in the series. Unfortunately that’s usually what happens when there’s quite a few books in a series. Oh well!  It’s not a bad book, so I […]

Mini Book Review: Perfect Kind of Trouble by Chelsea Fine

Mini Book Review: Perfect Kind of Trouble by Chelsea Fine

Boy. This book gave me some serious feels at 5am. I stayed up reading this book until almost 7am..oops. It’s obvious that I enjoyed this book if I couldn’t be bothered to notice the sun was rising right in front of my face. This book is a dual POV and I really enjoyed reading the story from both characters, Kayla and Daren’s, in this book. You watch them really evolve over a 3 day period and learn that there is more to themselves than a pretty face and sexual prowess. Yes, this book is pretty much instalove..but..given the circumstances the two main characters find themselves in, it was a given. OH. MY. GOD. I am just now finding out this book is #2 in a series. WOW. I didn’t even realize..well that’s another good thing about this book. It’s obvious you don’t need to read the first one, Best Kind of Broken, to jump right in to this one. Kudos to the author for that! 😉 (You know what’s really bad? I just realized that Regina had signed us up for the RDL of the first one and there’s a blog post for it in our archives. LOL!!) Anyways, yes I really liked this book and I’m going to go check out the first one in this series now. 😉 I think you should too!

ARC Review: Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

ARC Review: Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

WARNING: Do not attempt to start this book at night before you go to bed. If you do, YOU WILL BE UP ALL NIGHT LONG. This book will not allow you to put it down once you start reading. This book is about a girl who finds herself wandering down a road covered in blood. She doesn’t have any clue as to where she’s at, why she’s there and who she even is. She finds out her name is Sam and she’s been missing for FOUR DAYS. She disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, whom still hasn’t been found. Unfortunately  Sam’s memories of that night or any night before that are missing as well. Once I started reading this book, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I lost track of time.. what only seemed like minutes instead were hours. I realized it was 2am and not 11pm and I had to be to work at 7am. I unfortunately had to put the book down for the night…. The next day I forgo my lunchtime cat nap because I HAD TO FINISH THE BOOK. WOW. This book is incredible. I loved Sam, we got to discover her as a person as she discovered herself. What she was finding out about herself she did not like and she decided she didn’t WANT to be the way she used to be. It even seems that maybe though she was a certain way before the whole disappearance thing, in reality she really didn’t want […]
