Review & Giveway: The Rule Book by Jennifer Blackwood

Review & Giveway: The Rule Book by Jennifer Blackwood

That synopsis SOLD ME. I was scrolling through my facebook feed and I saw one of the Publicists for Entangled that I am friends with on Facebook post the synopsis for this book last week and I one-clicked the shit out of it when I got done reading the synopsis. I started reading this book last night and I finished it when I was supposed to be working today at work. Oops, my bad. I just couldn’t put it down. Lainey is fresh out of college with a job in Seattle as the second assistant to Brogan Starr, the CEO of Starr Media. She’s being told by the first assistant that the boss is the “Antichrist” and she has a 300 employee handbook with 4028502846 rules that proves it. Brogan Starr is apparently the Antichrist but when Lainey finally gets the chance to meet him and see him interact with his employees it’s obvious that maybe he really isn’t the “Devil”. It’s just his first assistant being an ass. No big surprise there, seeing as Jackson is an asshole from the very beginning. Brogan seems to get along with everyone who works for him and isn’t anything like Jackson made him out to be. Sure he has 5 million rules to be followed but it’s because he’s trying to protect himself. I really enjoyed this book, Lainey is a witty, entertaining girl with a big heart. She’s doing what she can to help out her sick mom, giving up the finer things […]

Mini Book Review: Grey by E.L. James

Mini Book Review: Grey by E.L. James

I thought I was going to devour this in a day. It took me FOUR AND A HALF DAYS to read this book. I also thought that it was going to span the entire trilogy. I was wrong. This only spans the first book, Fifty Shades of Grey. Sigh..while I did enjoy reading it, it was just not enough for me. For some reason I thought it might be a bitc raunchier coming from Christian’s POV. It wasn’t really. Oh well, it was nice to get in to his head and see what he was thinking at critical points in the first book. We also got to learn a bit more about Elena and a couple of his past subs. I think the best part of the entire book was the last 10-15%. I’ve been hearing that we’re going to get Darker from his POV too, but we probably will not get Freed. I know I will read anything E.L. James gives us from the Grey universe..but instead of reading Darker/Freed from his POV, I would much rather read AFTER Freed from his POV. Ana’s pregnancy. I think that would be interesting to see through his eyes. He’s so overprotective of Ana before she was pregnant, I can’t imagine how he is during her pregnancy. His anxiety is probably through the roof during her pregnancy. I think it’d be interesting to see him mentally prepare for fatherhood with Ana helping him realize that HE CAN BE A GOOD FATHER. What […]

One Night: Denied by Jodi Ellen Malpas (It’s MILLER TIME!)

One Night: Denied by Jodi Ellen Malpas (It’s MILLER TIME!)

Miller’s name always makes me think of the  “It’s Miller Time” slogan by Miller Beer, so this review will be now called “It’s Miller <3 Time!” Because..well, it is Miller time. Raise your hands if you love Miller Hart!     First off, I’ve read a few other reviews on this book. Some things I agree with while some others I don’t. First, there was some weird editing in this book. For example, The end of chapter 10/beginning of chapter 11. Did Scotty beam her there? How did she go from Miller’s apartment to being inside of a hotel room. Also, how did she manage to get that specific hotel room? That just totally confused the hell out of me when I read it. Why is everyone hating on Miller and his “Thing?” I think it’s adorable. Olivia is the first person in his life he’s allowed to get close to him in that way and so of course it’s going to be an addiction, A THING, that he’ll want. Did anyone get tired of Jesse wanting to “Make Friends” because that was totally his “THING”. I think Miller’s “thing” is JEM just making him more adorable. Just like I thought Jesse and his “making friends” was adorable.   I enjoyed the first book of this series immensely.  This one I found not to be as good as the first book. Doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it, I did..but I think this one seems more like just a filler between […]

Book Review: For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron + Giveaway

Book Review: For Real by Chelsea M. Cameron + Giveaway

Because one of the first things you learn in this book is how awesome the movie Mean Girls is (though you people should already know the awesomeness of this movie!), this book review is going to consist of a lot of Mean Girls memes. HA.   Shannon is a 21 year old college junior who is still holding on to her V Card. Her friends are doing everything they can to help her lose that card. They even go as far as to be total assholes about it. Shannon’s holding on to her V Card because the only thing she’s worried about right now is getting through college and making something better of her life (or maybe it’s because she recently watched Breaking Dawn..) Welp, that would certainly ruin a determined college student’s plans…   Anyways, back to my review…Shannon is a virgin, she plans on staying a virgin and she wants to get her friends off her back…Enter Jett, a cute tattooed graphic design student she “met” at the coffee shop. He just happens to cross paths with her again after some insane stuff goes down between Shannon and her friends and he rescues her from said situation. After a few discussions about nachos…  The two of them come to an agreement to fake date so that they can both get their friends off their backs… after a few days, it doesn’t seem so fake.. Speaking of Nachos, there was mention of dessert nachos in this book. I instantly […]

In a sizzling prequel novella to her new series THE DARK ELEMENTS, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons. Dez wasn’t just Jasmine’s crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything…right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn’t help that Jas’s father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally. And now he’s back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn’t taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again… Erin’s Review To be honest, when this book series was first announced I was like, ‘Gargoyles?!! Why would anyone write about gargoyles?’ Then I remembered that this is Jennifer L. Armentrout that is writing these books! I shouldn’t question her for writing about gargoyles, I should just trust the knowledge that we all know: Jennifer […]

Book Review: My Date From Hell by Tellulah Darling + Giveaway

Book Review: My Date From Hell by Tellulah Darling + Giveaway

Erin’s Review: My Date from Hell picks right up where My Ex from Hell ended. Sophie being held captive by her dad, Zeus.  He’s doing anything he can to get information from Sophie that she doesn’t have, well, information that she can’t remember. You see, she’s the reincarnation of Persephone and she can’t tap into her memories from her former life. Which is too bad, because the future of humanity depends on that information. The entire gang is back, Sophie, Theo, Hannah, even Bethany(meh). Oh let’s not forget Kai (swoooooon!).  We also get some new characters as well, Pierce (Eros, aka Cupid), Festos (aka Hephaestus), Aphrodite and Hermes. Sophie is just as awesome as she was in the first book. She talks before she thinks and sometimes it gets her into trouble, because a lot of what she has to say is full of snark.  In this book she gets a little jealous of herself, and by herself, I mean her former self: Persephone. She’s afraid that she  won’t be able to live up to her former self and that Kai will find Sophie lacking compared to what he had with Persephone. Kai…I wasn’t so sure about Kai in the first book, but Kai proves himself in this book and I absolutely fell in love with him. I know I’m not the only one who fell either. 😉 The chemistry between Sophie and Kai is even more amped up in this book (it’s that damn arrow! or so Sophie thinks….) […]

Meet Kitty Doe, a 17 year old girl who just took the test that determines what’s going to happen with the rest of her life. Her test results? A III. NOT what she was expecting, neither was the Job Assignment in Denver which will take her away from D.C. and Benjy. But what she needs to realize is that a III is better than a I, which will get you sent to Elsewhere. Kitty is given the chance to become  a VII and she hardly even puts some thought into her decision. The next thing you know, she’s waking up with a brand new face. You see Kitty has been masked, and now she has one of the most powerful faces in the Union. I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me a lot of the Airhead series by Meg Cabot but with a dystopian twist. It had a lot of backstabbing, betrayal, loyalty and hope. This book had a lot going on it and it kept my attention throughout it. There were some things revealed in the book that were quite shocking and literally had my jaw dropping. In this first book, there wasn’t much of a romance going on, seeing as Kitty’s boyfriend Benjy wasn’t really there for a good chunk of the book. I’ve read some reviews where people are happy that there isn’t a Love Triangle (between Kitty, Benjy and Lila’s fiance Knox), but this is only the first book and I can totally see Kitty […]

Book Review: One To Hold by Tia Louise + Giveaway

Book Review: One To Hold by Tia Louise + Giveaway

Melissa has the year from Hell and somehow her best friend Elaine has managed to talk her into running away for a week at a spa thousands of miles away from the mess that her life is. While sitting at the hotel bar drinking the only cocktail she could think of that she doesn’t even like, she somehow catches the attention of the sexy Derek Alexander. When Derek comes her way, she’s floored by this as she’s normally not the girl to be on the receiving end of something like this. When Derek introduces himself to her, one thing leads to another and soon the most delicious one week stand commences. A good majority of this book takes place in Scottsdale, AZ at the Cactus Flower Spa and Hotel where Melissa and Derek have the most sizzling romance I’ve read in awhile. Melissa takes Derek’s heart and leaves him in Arizona with hopes that when she cleans up the mess that is her life, she’ll be able to find Derek again. When Melissa returns to Baltimore this is where the story gets really interesting and you find out things you didn’t expect. Tia Louise took my heart, ripped it out and stomped on it with this book. But no worries, she finds the duct tape and puts it back together again at some point. She gives us a lovely happily ever after with a very sweet epilogue. I highly enjoyed reading this book and I will gladly read any other […]
