Book Review: Divinity by Michelle Johnson

Book Review: Divinity by Michelle Johnson

I jumped at the chance to read and review this for a blog tour that SHP was organizing. It had been awhile since I had read a book with an Angel theme and this one sounded promising and well, the cover art really got me too. I think the cover is beautiful. We follow Julia as she learns more about whom she descends from and we find out what she’s been through in her life to get her where she is..and boy Poor Julia had been through a LOT of stuff in her life. Some sensitive subjects are covered in this book from suicide to multiple kinds of abuse. So if you’re one that tends to avoid that kind of subject matter you might want to pass on this book. This story will definitely put your emotions through the ringer. I had to break out the box of kleenex a few times! I generally read books that have a romantic theme to theme and this one had a little bit of a romance for awhile and I really dug the male character, Alex, that Julia was dating in this book. He was very protective of Julia and was destined to be apart of Julia’s life and he followed through with what he was to do. You get the POVs from Julia AND the Angels which is cool, but it’s all in Third person and that is one thing that drives me crazy. (Don’t ask me why! It just does! Ha.) […]

ARC Review: Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

ARC Review: Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

WARNING: Do not attempt to start this book at night before you go to bed. If you do, YOU WILL BE UP ALL NIGHT LONG. This book will not allow you to put it down once you start reading. This book is about a girl who finds herself wandering down a road covered in blood. She doesn’t have any clue as to where she’s at, why she’s there and who she even is. She finds out her name is Sam and she’s been missing for FOUR DAYS. She disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, whom still hasn’t been found. Unfortunately  Sam’s memories of that night or any night before that are missing as well. Once I started reading this book, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I lost track of time.. what only seemed like minutes instead were hours. I realized it was 2am and not 11pm and I had to be to work at 7am. I unfortunately had to put the book down for the night…. The next day I forgo my lunchtime cat nap because I HAD TO FINISH THE BOOK. WOW. This book is incredible. I loved Sam, we got to discover her as a person as she discovered herself. What she was finding out about herself she did not like and she decided she didn’t WANT to be the way she used to be. It even seems that maybe though she was a certain way before the whole disappearance thing, in reality she really didn’t want […]

Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley Release Blitz REVIEW & TWO GIVEAWAYS!

Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley Release Blitz REVIEW & TWO GIVEAWAYS!

Excerpt Hop came out of the bathroom to see Lanie on her feet on the other side of the bed, panties on, hands twisted behind her back putting her bra on. Again. He didn’ t say a word. He prowled to her, reached out an arm the second he was close, yanked her to him and fell to his back in the bed, taking her down with him. “Hop—” she started, pushing her weight against his arms, but he slid her off him then wasted no time rolling over her and pinning her to his bed. “Sleep,” he ordered when he caught her eyes in the weak dawn. “After rest, I’ ll get coffee, we’ ll juice up, then round four.” She blinked and breathed, “Four?” “Got lots more I want to do to you,” he informed her and watched her eyes go soft, sexier, then her teeth came out to graze her lush lower lip, also fucking sexy, and her arms slid around him. But she asked, “What about Tack and Ty-Ty?” “I’ ll make sure the coast is clear,” he told her. “But they’ ll see my car,” she told him. “I’ ll move it,” he offered. Her hand slid up his back, around his shoulder, and then to his neck where her thumb moved to stroke him. Her touch was light but, fuck, it felt good. He’ d never had a woman touch him in an unconscious way like that, just a touch, a stroke, giving something […]

DNF: Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

DNF: Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

I am a sucker for books where the girl gets the prince. I’ve also read Angie Stanton’s Jamieson Collection series and I enjoyed those books. When I saw this book on edelweiss and saw who the author was, I of course, had to request it. I started reading it and instantly disliked the female MC, Becca. The Male MC, Nikolai’s introduction to me wasn’t so hot either..but.. I powered through…. When I got to 14% I couldn’t take it anymore!! Nikolai is a prince who is anti-monarchy and Becca is being anti everything on her family’s European vacation. If she throws a fit about him being a prince when she finds out I’m going to throw my iPad. Ungrateful girl is on a trip to Europe whining about the history of the places she’s visiting…how she doesn’t want to go to this palace or church or even be on the tour at all… I would about kill to go to Europe and explore all of their historical buildings and learn more about their history.. And I’d swoon and have a heart attack if I met a good looking prince! All she does is whine..all they both do is pretty much whine. To be Honest, I don’t even know if I’ll ever finish this book and find out if she throws a fit when she finds out he’s a prince.. maybe one day when I’m bored I will get curious as to how it all ends..but for now..I just can’t take […]

Release Day Launch / ARC Review: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

Erin’s Review First off, This review needs a song… [sc_embed_player fileurl=”http://mereadalot.net/muzak/06%20Paradise%20City.mp3″] <- Click  the play button for this review’s theme song. (Paradise City by Guns N Roses)   Second…one of the best characters in this book: BAMBI. That’s all I’m gonna say..I’ll let you meet Bambi on your own. 😉 Jennifer L. Armentrout never fails when bringing us a swoony boy..and this book is no exception..In fact, she gave us TWO SWOONY BOYS! We’ve got Zayne ,who is a warden (aka Gargoyle) and Roth, who is a demon. Our female MC in this book is Layla. Layla is half-warden, half-demon. She was raised by the Wardens and because of that she feels insecure around them. She may be half-warden, but she doesn’t have the capabilities they possess, so she feels…inconsequential? around them.. Yeah, something like that. She does have the ability to “tag” demons, which she uses to help the Wardens, who hunt at night, identify them. Which in turn makes their job a bit easier..and makes Layla feel as though she’s doing something positive. Due to her being half-demon, she has the ability to suck the soul right out of someone..literally. Because of that whole soul-sucking thing, she’ll never be able to have the one boy she wants..Zayne, or anyone else for that matter.. That all changes when she meets Roth. Roth is a demon, he has no soul, so his lips are free game to Layla..and boy does she take advantage of that..Or maybe it’s Roth that takes advantage of […]

Book Review: Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

Book Review: Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout + Giveaway!

To be honest, when this book series was first announced I was like, ‘Gargoyles?!! Why would anyone write about gargoyles?’ Then I remembered that this is Jennifer L. Armentrout that is writing these books! I shouldn’t question her for writing about gargoyles, I should just trust the knowledge that we all know: Jennifer L. Armentrout writes the most swoon-worthy male characters EVER. After that realization I started to get excited! One day Jasmine’s father has announced his wishes for Jasmine and Dez to Mate, the next Dez has up and left without a word to Jasmine. It’s kind of hard to not take that personally. Especially seeing as Jas had spent the last 8 years of her life in love with him. So for 3 years, Jasmine mourns the loss of Dez and then one day He comes back and lays claim to Jasmine. Oh, but Jasmine is NOT HAPPY. She’s just spent the last 3 years of her life wondering what she did to make him leave and now he’s back all of the sudden and wants to mate? Oh no, Jasmine is not having any of that. Jasmine has seven days to say yes or no to Dez’s claim. Instead of saying ‘NO’ right off the bat, she comes up with conditions and she makes him work for that ‘Yes.’ We get a brief introduction to Layla (half demon & half gargoyle teen girl being raised by the DC Warden Clan.), Zayne (A Warden from the Clan that’s […]

ARC Review: Facade (The Games Series #2) by Nyrae Dawn

ARC Review: Facade (The Games Series #2) by Nyrae Dawn

I started this book not even knowing it was a sequel. I didn’t find out until about halfway through that it was book 2 in a series and I only found out because I was looking at it on Goodreads and saw that it was apart of the Game series. So that, I think, is a good thing about this book: You can read it without having read the first book, Charade, in the series. I didn’t start reading it and get confused by anything that may have happened in the first book of the series..I guess it also helps that the main characters are different in this one, but the characters in the first book are here too. That said, let’s move on to the story. When Delaney was 14 years old her father commits a crime that tears apart her family. Four years later she’s tired of pretending everything is alright. She wants to find forgiveness and move on with her life. Her and her brother, Maddox, pack up and go in search of the people her father hurt. Once there, She meets Adrian Westfall by chance, and who might this be? That’s right the one person she came to this town to find. I guess you can figure out what happens from here. It seems pretty obvious to me what will happen in this book, but in case you’re curious… Something that I did not find obvious: Boy this book got the best of my emotions, I […]

Mini Book Review: Love Rehab by Jo Piazza

Mini Book Review: Love Rehab by Jo Piazza

This book was highly entertaining! It had me laughing non-stop. It also gave me some food for thought on any future break-ups, including some Steps/Rules that maybe we should all remember to follow in the future concerning possible new relationships, break ups or life in general. 😉 This was a light, funny read and I really enjoyed it. I’m glad I was given the opportunity to read and review it. 😉
