ARC Review: Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

WARNING: Do not attempt to start this book at night before you go to bed. If you do, YOU WILL BE UP ALL NIGHT LONG. This book will not allow you to put it down once you start reading. This book is about a girl who finds herself wandering down a road covered in blood. She doesn’t have any clue as to where she’s at, why she’s there and who she even is. She finds out her name is Sam and she’s been missing for FOUR DAYS. She disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, whom still hasn’t been found. Unfortunately  Sam’s memories of that night or any night before that are missing as well. Once I started reading this book, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. I lost track of time.. what only seemed like minutes instead were hours. I realized it was 2am and not 11pm and I had to be to work at 7am. I unfortunately had to put the book down for the night…. The next day I forgo my lunchtime cat nap because I HAD TO FINISH THE BOOK. WOW. This book is incredible. I loved Sam, we got to discover her as a person as she discovered herself. What she was finding out about herself she did not like and she decided she didn’t WANT to be the way she used to be. It even seems that maybe though she was a certain way before the whole disappearance thing, in reality she really didn’t want […]

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol

Erin’s Review:   Hello Ladies! There’s a new alien in town and he’s here to collect all of our hearts!     Yes, Yes it is. His name is Trey Allairis and it didn’t take long for him to have me swooning all over the place! While he’s not actually referred to as an Alien, He does mention being from another world and to get to said world they have to travel through a worm hole. If that doesn’t scream ALIEN, I don’t know what does.     Ah, since I mentioned Trey, excuse me a minute:     Ok, I think I’m good for a minute. 😉 I started reading Under Different Stars on Monday and thank the (different) stars (ha!) that I had Tuesday off, because I finally gave the book a rest when I could barely keep my eyes open. I was instantly sucked into the story and I did not want to stop reading! This book was incredible, from the unique Etharian slang they used to the swoon-worthy Trey Allairis . The characters in this book were amazing and the world that Amy built for us..was a lot like ours, but yet so very different. I’m finding it difficult to put into words how much I loved this book, but I will try! Kricket was smart, funny and the good kind of sassy.  She wasn’t at all annoying like some Sass-filled protagonists come off as.  Having lost her parents early on in life, she’s had a rough upbringing […]

Meet Kitty Doe, a 17 year old girl who just took the test that determines what’s going to happen with the rest of her life. Her test results? A III. NOT what she was expecting, neither was the Job Assignment in Denver which will take her away from D.C. and Benjy. But what she needs to realize is that a III is better than a I, which will get you sent to Elsewhere. Kitty is given the chance to become  a VII and she hardly even puts some thought into her decision. The next thing you know, she’s waking up with a brand new face. You see Kitty has been masked, and now she has one of the most powerful faces in the Union. I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me a lot of the Airhead series by Meg Cabot but with a dystopian twist. It had a lot of backstabbing, betrayal, loyalty and hope. This book had a lot going on it and it kept my attention throughout it. There were some things revealed in the book that were quite shocking and literally had my jaw dropping. In this first book, there wasn’t much of a romance going on, seeing as Kitty’s boyfriend Benjy wasn’t really there for a good chunk of the book. I’ve read some reviews where people are happy that there isn’t a Love Triangle (between Kitty, Benjy and Lila’s fiance Knox), but this is only the first book and I can totally see Kitty […]

Erin’s Review: Tiny is a 20-year-old girl dreaming of someday finishing nursing school, and moving out of her dad’s house. Tiny works for her father’s bootlegging operation while simultaneously helping out in her older sister’s small grocery store when she is needed. At night,  she craves the lifestyle of the flapper, but instead is at home taking care of the kids.  NOT HER KIDS, her own little sisters,  While their dad is off customizing cars with hidden compartments, gambling or picking up the shipment of booze that’s just come in over the lake. One day, about a week after Tiny notices “The Sheik”, aka Enzo, coming into her family’s grocery store. Enzo comes into her store asking her to pass something on to her father. That night her father goes missing. Oh no, what’s a girl to do? Enters Joey, a serious pain in Tiny’s ass, but someone she and her family have known all her life. Book Review: Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Review: Obsession by Jennifer L. Armentrout

OH H-O-L-Y CRAP. So Obsession came out on Friday (5/31), but I was lucky enough to win an ARC from the Publisher the night before so I got an early start on my reading!! This book was a great way to hold us ADULT fans of the LUX series over until the release of Origin. When I found out that JLA was releasing an adult book from the LUX universe I got super excited!! I love super hot romances and I must say Obsession is SMOKIN’ HOT!!!! I almost had to take a cold shower when I got done reading it because it had some SUPER HOT SEXY TIMES!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED HUNTER!! He consisted of all the best ingredients to make a super hot alpha male WHO IS AN ALIEN!!!! He was cocky, arrogant, bossy, snarky, etc, etc.. He was PERRRRRFECT!!! Amazing! “That´s an alien. I´m an alien. We´re aliens. Aliens everywhere, actually, which is why we have to leave. I´m sure someone called the police by now.” – Hunter Serena was also amazing…She didn’t take Hunter’s crap at all and dished it right back at him! We like girls who are sassy, makes for interesting banter between characters!! But like most girls who are sassy, they usually don’t always know what’s good for them..so they tend to do some stupid things and Serena is not any different! “Never in my life had I been more frustrated. Go figure it wouldn’t be with a human but a freaking […]

Book Review: The Girl in 6E by Alessandra Torre.

Book Review: The Girl in 6E by Alessandra Torre.

Holy SHIT. This book is unlike ANYTHING I’VE EVER READ BEFORE. I didn’t know what the fuck was going on most of the time. The story is creative and unique, and the writing is impeccable. Usually I pick up on typos and misspellings when I’m reading but I did not notice ANY in this book. The  is a dark story about a young 20 something year old girl named Deanna aka Jess. She has cut herself off from the outside world for the last 3 years to protect people from her homicidal thoughts. The only way she “connects” with humans is through the computer as a camgirl performing sexual acts for people at $6.99/minute. She’s one of the few American girls who do it so she has quite the following and makes some good money. Throughtout the book you get to experience the story from many other peoples’ POVs, which is a great way to mix things up. It had me continually trying to figure out who “RalphMA35” was as the story went along. The chapters were all quite short, which made it so the story didn’t drag out/ All in all, this book was a very interesting read and I would suggest reading it if you’re looking for something DIFFERENT and unlike what you have read before. It’s full of mystery, suspense and some crazy whacked out sexual fetishes! Very entertaining read!

Book Review: Because of You by Tara Sivec

Book Review: Because of You by Tara Sivec

When I finished this book, I’m had to restrain myself from texting Melanie and going ‘HOLY SHIT BALLS! I was not expecting that.’, seeing as she was like 65% behind me in the book. Hahah. —— I am LOVING the Playing with Fire series. Book 2, Because of You, brings us the story of Navy Seal Brady and Pop Star Layla who are thrown together when Brady needs to pay the bills and Layla’s getting disturbing letters from a fan. Tara keeps us on the edge of our seat yet again wondering what surprises are in store for us as we read the book, and boy are there some to be had. Some that might even have you panicking.   Is it me or did a certain part of this book remind me of the Hilary Duff movie, A Cinderella Story? If so, this teaches us that maybe you shouldn’t hide the things left behind by a loved one, because if you do you might not discover what power you may actually have. Let me just say this: Tara Fucking Sivec is AMAZING.   Bring on Austin and Gwen’s story!! I’m ready for it! 😉
