The Grab Your Pole series by Jenn Cooksey + GIVEAWAY!

The Grab Your Pole series by Jenn Cooksey + GIVEAWAY!

If you guys pay any attention to me at all, you know that I absolutely love the Grab Your Pole book series by Jenn Cooksey.  It’s an amazing series with even more amazing characters, including the most kick ass 12 year old you’ll ever meet in a book… and Tristan..SWOON. I was #TeamTristan all the way during this year’s YA Crush Tourney and I even went the way of bribing people (I like to think that Jillian would be proud) with Grab Your Pole books to vote for Tristan during the Tourney… Unfortunately he didn’t make it past the 2nd round in the Tourney, but that’s ok..He did very well for a character that not many people knew about at the time of the YA Crush Tourney. Hopefully we will be able to get Tristan further next year! If you haven’t read this book series yet, I highly suggest that you get right on it!   Favorite Quotes: Tristan “Romeo and Juliet killing themselves was ultimately an accident due to a miscommunication, but this fuckin’ guy…guy, vampire…whatever, actually has a contingency plan! He’ s gonna outlive her anyway, so why bother? I mean if living without her is such a big deal, then he should just change her and be done with it. No offense, Baby, but if I were a vampire and didn’ t wanna un-live without you, you’ d be fuckin’ dead, end of story. There’ d be none of this whining about your soul and shit…I’ d just sink my […]

New Release: Safe With Me by Kristen Proby + Giveaway

New Release: Safe With Me by Kristen Proby + Giveaway

Title: Safe with Me Series: With Me in Seattle #5 Author: Kristen Proby Release: September 24th, 2013 Genre: Contemporary Romance Buy Now: Amazon | B&N Goodreads: Add to your bookshelf Excerpt: “Easy,” Caleb murmurs behind me. “I’ m fine.” Maybe if I keep saying it I’ ll start to believe it myself. He moves up behind me and nudges my legs apart. “Widen your stance for balance.” I fire again, and my blood thickens as adrenaline pumps hard and fast through me. It doesn’ t take a Navy SEAL to figure out how to line up the sights, and I squeeze the trigger, again and again, my body taught with aggression that I didn’ t even know I’ d been holding. Shooting is great therapy. When the magazine is empty, Caleb wordlessly shows me how to switch it out, and I continue to throw the bullets down the range, clip after clip, until all four are spent. I set the heavy gun on the shelf, pull my goggles and earmuffs off and step back. I have to lock my knees because my legs feel like Jell-O and I’ m afraid I’ ll fall. My arms are humming, I’ m panting, and I swear to God, I could run a marathon. Suddenly, Caleb steps up behind me and presses the button to bring the target back to us. “Take a deep breath,” he whispers against my ear and I instinctively respond, pulling in a long, deep breath. He presses his […]

First Excerpt from Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott + Giveaway!

First Excerpt from Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott + Giveaway!

FIRE & FLOOD by Victoria Scott Scholastic, February 2014 First Excerpt Reveal I drove across the US of A, left my family without an explanation, and now I’ m either too late or there was never anything here to begin with. F my life. Rearing back, I kick the door as hard as I can. Then I wrap both hands around the door handles and release a noise like a wild banshee as I pull back. The doors swing open. I’ m not sure whether to celebrate or freak out. I decide to do neither and slip inside. As I walk around the inside of the museum, listening to the sound of my footsteps echo off the walls, I imagine I am moments from death. It’ s sad, I think, that this is all it takes to break my sanity. Two curling flights of stairs bow out from the first-floor lobby, and red and white tiles cover the floors. There are gilded picture frames everywhere. So many that I think the placement of the frames — and not their contents — is the real art. Everything, absolutely everything, smells like wax. I mosey up to an abandoned reception desk and leaf through the glossy pamphlets littering the surface. I hold one of the pamphlets up to my nose. Yep, wax. I glance around, having no idea what to look for. Will there be a sign like at school registration? Students with last names A–K this way? On my left, I […]

Book Review: Chaos by Christine O’Neil + Giveaway

Book Review: Chaos by Christine O’Neil + Giveaway

Maggie recently has found out that she is what they call a Semi-God..Someone who descends from a god or goddess. In Maggie’s case, it’s Aphrodite, the greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation. She’s slowly coming into her powers and watch out, because if you piss her off you might end up in a coma like her Ex, Eric. Out of nowhere, the New kid, Hot & Irish, Mac Finnegan, has decided that he wants to mess with Maggie for no good reason. He seems to know how to push her buttons just right and that’s not a good thing for him or Maggie. — I have to be honest, it took a while for the story to get going but once it did I really started to enjoy the book. I loved Maggie and the things that came out her mouth. She was witty, sarcastic and full of attitude and had no problem saying what was on her mind. When you put her and Mac Finnegan together. Wowie! The chemistry between was electric, though both of them try to deny it’s there. The bickering between the two of them was entertaining and sometimes it seemed as though Maggie wanted to attack and kiss him, while other times she wanted to attack and kill him. It’s interesting to see Maggie’s character develop throughout the book as she learns more about where she comes from and how to control her new powers and try to be the best that she […]

Book Review: Shark Bait (Grab Your Pole #1) by Jenn Cooksey + Giveaway

Book Review: Shark Bait (Grab Your Pole #1) by Jenn Cooksey + Giveaway

I came across Shark Bait when I was scouring through the bowels of Amazon in September of 2012 thinking that I finally read everything there is to be read on Amazon when I found Shark Bait. It caught my eye and I took a gander at it and thought it sounded interesting so I bought it. I instantly got hooked and I don’t think I put my iPad down til I finished the book. Shark Bait is an amazing YA book with references to the best TV, Movies and Music of the 80s & 90s, a cute and hilarious protagonist named Camie, a stealthy 12 year old named Jill, and a boy named Tristan who will make you swoon all over yourself. I have to give it to Jenn Cooksey, you don’t always find a book where the main character is a female that doesn’t annoy the crap out of you. Camie never did, said or really whined about anything that made you go “WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” like some female characters (who shall remain nameless..*cough*Bella/Ana/etc.*cough* :P) Most of the time she was making me laugh and I’m glad I found a book where I actually LIKED the Main Female character. Along with the awesomesauce Camie, the supporting characters in this book are just as amazing and funny too. Kate is smart, sweet and being one of Tristan’s Best Friends, she is able to give Camie the 4-1-1 as the story goes along. “Dear Jeff” is hilarious […]

About the Author | Giveaway Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely Publication date: May 21st 2013 Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance (the author describes it as mid-20s Sex and the City vibe) Buy from: Amazon |  Smashwords  |  Barnes & Noble Synopsis: Sometimes you can’t help falling in love, even when you try to do the opposite…Successful fashion blogger McKenna Bell has spent far too long protecting herself after the way her ex-fiancé left her at the altar for a college chick he met the night of his bachelor party. Loving again, trusting again, well, that’s just not in the cards. Especially now that her ex is back in town with his new woman, demanding custody of McKenna’s favorite creature in the whole world–her dog. No effing way. McKenna’s had enough of him, and she decides to even the score by finding her own hot young thing — a Trophy Husband. Sure, she’s only twenty-seven, but doesn’t that make it even more fun — and infuriating to her ex — to pursue a younger man? When she declares her intentions on her daily blog, her quest quickly skyrockets in popularity, and that’s when Chris enters the picture, and he’ s got all the assets. He’s handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star. But loving again could mean losing again, and it’s so much easier to focus on getting even, isn’t it? Unless, you just can’t […]
