12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: The Only One by Magan Vernon

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: The Only One by Magan Vernon

Magan Vernon is one of my favorite authors. Whether she writes about hot aliens named Ace or she’s writing about a hot frat boy in a loin cloth, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by her..  She’s an entertaining writer and if you follow her on Twitter, you’ll see she’s just as entertaining in general. 🙂 This year I’ve read her books The Only Exception and The Only One.  Both books are written in the same “universe”, The Only One being the companion novel to The Only Exception. I loved both books so I’m giving away  a digital copy of both books for our 12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways..  ENTER TO WIN BELOW!! Speaking of Reviews, here is my review for The Only One. You can also check out Meredith’s (who did some guest reviews for our Aliens Abducting August theme this year) reviews for Magan’s My Alien Romance series here. Giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: Under Different Stars by Amy A. Bartol

Erin’s Review:   Hello Ladies! There’s a new alien in town and he’s here to collect all of our hearts!     Yes, Yes it is. His name is Trey Allairis and it didn’t take long for him to have me swooning all over the place! While he’s not actually referred to as an Alien, He does mention being from another world and to get to said world they have to travel through a worm hole. If that doesn’t scream ALIEN, I don’t know what does.     Ah, since I mentioned Trey, excuse me a minute:     Ok, I think I’m good for a minute. 😉 I started reading Under Different Stars on Monday and thank the (different) stars (ha!) that I had Tuesday off, because I finally gave the book a rest when I could barely keep my eyes open. I was instantly sucked into the story and I did not want to stop reading! This book was incredible, from the unique Etharian slang they used to the swoon-worthy Trey Allairis . The characters in this book were amazing and the world that Amy built for us..was a lot like ours, but yet so very different. I’m finding it difficult to put into words how much I loved this book, but I will try! Kricket was smart, funny and the good kind of sassy.  She wasn’t at all annoying like some Sass-filled protagonists come off as.  Having lost her parents early on in life, she’s had a rough upbringing […]

ARC Review: Echoes in the Glass by Cheri Lasota + Giveaway!

ARC Review: Echoes in the Glass by Cheri Lasota + Giveaway!

The cover art of this book is what drew my attention. When I saw it I knew I had to read it.  The lighthouse called out to me. I’ve never read a book based around a lighthouse, so I had to give this book a shot. What’s really great about this story is that there is TWO stories being told. It’s half historical, half contemporary with a bit of mystery.  I couldn’t put my iPad down once I started reading this. The details that the author gave to us really helped me visualize the Lighthouse, as it was in both time periods. I had no problem envisioning how it might have looked when we were visiting it in 1935 or if we were visiting it in the present. Cheri also did an amazing job with the character development, I fell in love with both couples, though for the most part I think I enjoyed Carina and Morgan’s story more. We get thrown some unexpected twists in both stories and at one point I could almost feel my heart breaking. It’s a very bittersweet story that gave me one hell of a book hangover and left my heart a wee bit sore.   Thank you for giving me the chance to read and review this book, Cheri & ATOMR. I really enjoyed it! a Rafflecopter giveaway

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: Speak Easy by Melanie Harlow

12 Days of Reviews & Giveaways: Speak Easy by Melanie Harlow

One of my favorite books of this year was Speak Easy by Melanie Harlow. It takes place in Detroit during the height of prohibition, the 1920s. Seeing as I’m from Michigan, I like it when I read a book that is based in a place I’m familiar with. I know what it’s like in Michigan during the middle of a July heat wave. I also know where Woodward Avenue is. Though I’m sure the Woodward Ave of Today is a tad bit different looking now.. This book was like reading through an episode of Boardwalk Empire, DETROIT STYLE. I recently finished the sequel to the book, Speak Low, and I will be reviewing that book in the near future(so keep an eye out for it!). In the meantime, check out my review for Speak Easy located here and scroll down and enter to win a digital copy of Speak Easy(kindle OR ePub)!       a Rafflecopter giveaway
